Welcome to the first GIN newsletter of 2019!
2019 GIN events have gotten off to a great start...
In February, GIN welcomed Pamela Hutchinson, Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion, Bloomberg, for an informal ‘in conversation with’ chat at RSA. Attendees left with inspirational and practical tips for reaching their full potential.
We also ran a panel event with AIG. The panellists included 4 senior women from the ABI, Chubb and AIG, with Dr Julie Humphreys as the moderator. The topic, ‘Tackling the gender seniority gap: what works for the insurance and long-term savings industry?’, focused on the recent report from the ABI. Panellists shared their own career experiences, internal best practices and their views on various causes relevant to the issue.
In March, we were very proud to host an event celebrating International Women’s Day. Hosted in DWF’s offices, our Inspiring Action workshop welcomed six key speakers; three industry experts and three inspirational students. Our session aimed to inspire action, interrupt the interruption and break the stereotypes around inclusivity. The session explored the three key aims of GIN - to network, challenge and change.
Quarter two events will focus on Personal Development and will begin with a session on the neuroscience of confidence on 11 April. This is an interactive workshop that will be run by Learning Partners and held at Travelers Insurance Company. The session will aim to provide insights into the nature of confidence, self-belief and trust in others. We will reflect on situations that can damage confidence and trust. By using these insights to improve self-awareness, we will aim for more objective self-evaluation. Lastly, we will consider some tools and techniques to build self-confidence.
Our focus on Personal Development will continue with events on mindfulness in May and confidence boosting workshop in June. Invites and further information will be shared soon.
